  • It’s that time of year again! The wacky ArtQuest kids have begun working with the new theme for the 2011-2012 school year. After many hours of collaboration, the ArtQuest faculty finally fell into agreement on the phrase, "We’re not in Kansas anymore."
    What exactly does that mean? Good question! There are many different directions in which the theme could be taken. It can be observed in a very literal sense, or, as most ArtQuest kids will, interpreted in an abstract manner.

  • This year’s VMA’s featured a sneak peak of the upcoming sci-fi trilogy, The Hunger Games, based on the books by Suzanne Collins. The movie is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2012. The Hunger Games is a post-apocalyptic trilogy about the survival of twelve desperate districts, divided amongst Panem. Every year, two young representatives between the ages of 12 and 18 are anonymously selected from each district to compete in the annual, gruesome "Hunger Games". The victor of the Hunger Games receives resources for their district.

  • In spite of the recent Supreme Court ruling that video games are protected speech, the regulation of video games, and of violent content therein, remains a serious issue—one with broad consequences for the future of games.

  • On August 24, the technology community shed a tear as Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, sent out his resignation letter. There was always a fear that this day would come because of Jobs’ poor health, but many thought it would not be until much later. However there was much chaos in the world during the hours following the news. Apple’s stock dropped an unprecedented two hundred points. There were Lebron-esque revolts all over the world. People took to the streets and started to burn their iPhones and black turtlenecks in massive bonfires.

  • In Santa Rosa and surrounding areas, there are numerous music venues that host talented local artists. While there are the Wells Fargo Center and the Pheonix theater, older, larger venues, there are also number of smaller locations that have a more intimate atmosphere. In addition, these smaller venues are far more accesible to teens and young adults.
